此地與刺刀的命名甚有淵源。於17世紀的一場農民爭執中，當時興奮的農民將小刀插入來福槍槍口內，用以襲擊敵人。因此軍用刺刀便以出現地巴约讷命名為“Bayonet”。[1]

地理
位置
巴约讷位于法国西南部，地处巴斯克和加斯科涅边界处。巴约讷原是巴斯克拉波尔省的一部分。现属新阿基坦大区比利牛斯-大西洋省。该市占地面积为2,168公顷，海拔高度在0到55米之间。[4]
该市被阿杜尔河穿越而过，[5]该河发源自巴涅尔德比戈尔，在位于塔尔诺斯和昂格雷之间的巴约讷注入大西洋。[6][7]尼夫河在巴约讷市内的阿杜尔河左岸与之汇聚。
气候
巴约讷在柯本气候分类法中属于海洋性气候（Cfb），夏季炎热干燥，冬季温和多雨。最低气温记录是1985年1月的−12.7℃，最高气温出现在2003年8月的40.6℃。[8]
