The 1979–80 season of the European Cup Winners' Cup was won on penalties by Valencia CF in a goalless final against Arsenal. It was the only Cup Winners' Cup to be decided in this way (although two previous finals had required replays), and was Valencia's third European title after two Inter-Cities Fairs Cup victories.
