峨螺科（学名：Buccinidae）是新腹足目之下一個物種非常豐富、分佈範圍極廣的科[2]。

多元性


本科共有超過1500個不同物種，當中絕大多數均生活在海洋裡，但有8到10個物種在淡水生活[1]。


部分物種有以碳酸鈣為主的口蓋。



分類


根據布歇特和洛克羅伊的腹足類分類 (2005年)，峨螺科之下簡單可分為六個亞科[3]：



  • 峨螺亞科 Buccininae Rafinesque, 1815


  • Beringiinae Golikov & Starobogatov, 1975


  • Busyconinae Wade, 1917 (1867)


  • Donovaniinae Casey, 1904 - synonym: Lachesinae L. Bellardi, 1877 (inv.)


  • Pisaniinae Gray, 1857 - synonyms: Photinae Gray, 1857; Pusiostomatidae Iredale, 1940


  • Siphonaliinae Finlay, 1928 - synonym: Austrosiphonidae Cotton & Godfrey, 1938

WoRMS還列出有第七個亞科Colinae Gray, 1857，但未有將相關的Colini族，而是將之保留在峨螺亞科之下[2]。
