Album-oriented rock, out - country, in

92.3 KRST owes its current incarnation to movie actor and former "SweatHog" John Travolta. Prior to the release of the 1980 hit "Urban Cowboy," KRST was a very successful and widely popular Album Oriented Rock station. The station was the classic representation of what FM radio used to be: Silky-smooth voiced DJ's, Tracks played well into the deepest part of an artist's collection of albums and strictly vinyl.

On-air personalities

The Get Up Gang, the KRST morning show, was nominated for an Academy of County Music award in 2006 for Best Show (Medium Market) with the cast including Dawson McKay, Kristina Carlyle, and Levi With. All have since exited the show and the station is airing syndicated programming.

Nash FM

On May 30, 2014, Cumulus Media expanded the "Nash FM" brand to Albuquerque via the rebranding of KRST as "Nash FM 92.3". The conversion of KRST to the Nash brand is part of Cumulus' plans to have their Country outlets adopt a national based brand using syndicated and local content, similar to Clear Channel's Top 40/CHR "Kiss-FM" model. The conversion also resulted in of the several KRST air staffers (except for Velasco) being let go, including The Get Up Gang morning show.[1]
