The Lovejoy and Merrill-Nowlan Houses are located in the Courthouse Hill Historic District in Janesville, Wisconsin. In 1980, they were added to the National Register of Historic Places.[1]

The Lovejoy Mansion is located in the Courthouse Hill Historic District in Janesville, Wisconsin. In 1980, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places.[1]
The Lovejoy Manor was designed by James Douglas and for Allen P. Lovejoy. Lovejoy was a prominent businessman who went on to be a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly, the Wisconsin State Senate, and Mayor of Janesville.[2]
After his death in 1904, his wife resided in the house until she died in 1953. After Mrs. Lovejoy’s death, Joseph A. Craig bought the Lovejoy mansion in order to present it to the YWCA, whose offices remained there for the rest of the twentieth century.[3]
Merrill-Nowlan House
The Merrill-Nowlan House was home to another Janesville mayor, who died in 1908.[4]
