Mac mini 是由蘋果公司所推出的Mac電腦，於2005年1月11日的Macworld中公佈。它的低價加上小巧和容易使用的設計，主要吸引使用Windows的電腦、iPod、和舊型麥金塔電腦的使用者。Mac mini最初有兩款不同的型號，於2005年1月22日在美國推出（1月29日全球發售）。其上一个更新版本Mac mini於2014年10月16日推出，採用Intel Core i5或Intel Core i7處理器。最新版Mac mini于2018年10月推出，搭载第八代Intel Core i3/i5/i7处理器，拥有深空灰色机身，最低8GB的DDR4内存与128GB的PCle固态硬盘。

概覽


Mac mini的特別之處在於受到Power Mac G4 Cube影響而有特別小的尺寸和外觀——長寬均6.5英吋（16.5公分），高2英吋（5.1公分），重2.9磅（1.3公斤），是麥金塔桌上型電腦家族中最小的一個。出售時不包含顯示器、鍵盤和滑鼠。其鍵盤和滑鼠與USB標準相容，現有的PC用戶可直接使用現有的鍵盤、滑鼠，以及顯示器。


Mac mini預先安裝了OS X作業系統 ，也包含了如西洋棋等遊戲，iWork辦公室軟體，以及用來處理視訊、音樂、相片等多媒體的iLife。

兩款型號於2005年1月11日在美國三藩市舉行的Macworld中公佈：

多份報告指出，Mac mini在2005年10月被靜靜地升級至64MB VRAM，以及1.33 GHz（原本為1.25 GHz）和 1.5 GHz（原本為1.42 GHz）的G4處理器，配備512MB PC3200記憶體；而80GB硬碟為希捷的Momentus 5400.2 ST9808211A 型號，配備2MB 的快取記憶體，和5400 RPM的轉速。而SuperDrive則用上MATSHITA的DVD-R UJ-8450，支援 +R 寫入，並非官方型式地支援DVD-RAM。

2007年8月


8月7日，蘋果公司發布新款Mac Mini，CPU採用Intel Core 2 Duo，分為兩個等級，較低階的版本採用1.83GHz之CPU、1GB內存、80GB硬碟和Combo Drive光碟機（能讀取DVD-ROM但是只能燒錄CD-RW），較高階的版本採用2.0GHz之CPU、1GB內存、120GB硬碟和DVD燒錄機。
另外也提供選購昇級硬碟、記憶體的服務。



2009年3月


3月3日，蘋果公司再次發布新款Mac Mini，包括一系列硬件升级：
繪圖效能，使用 NVIDIA GeForce 9400M (含 128MB 共享 DDR3 SDRAM)；核心，2.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo；光碟機，8 倍速雙層 SuperDrive；擴充，五個 USB 2.0 埠，一個 FireWire 800 埠；傳輸，內建 AirPort Extreme Wi-Fi (802.11n)5，內建 Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR (加強的資料傳輸)。



2009年10月


10月20日，蘋果公司再次發布新款Mac Mini，升級內容:


  1. CPU升級：2.0 GHz>2.26GHz和2.26 GHz>2.53 GHz

  2. 記憶體升級：1GB>2GB和2GB>4GB

增加一個伺服器版本，去除光驱，安装两块500GB的硬盘并附带Mac OS X Server版 [3]

2010年6月桌上版Mac mini


6月15日蘋果公司發表新設計的Mac mini，與Macbook一樣采用了一体化（Unibody）的鋁合金外殼设计（厚度壓縮至1.4吋（3.556公分）），加入了HDMI接口和SD读卡器。搭载2.4GHz酷睿2双核CPU，2G内存和320G硬盘，内置802.11n无线网络适配器和NVIDIA GeForce 320M显示芯片。有一个Firewire 800火线接口，四个USB接口和一个Mini DisplayPort接口，内建蓝牙+EDR和8速光驱。最大支持8GB內存。


伺服器版本CPU升级为2.66 GHz，4GB内存，最大支持8GB內存，內有2顆2.5吋SATA硬碟可組成RAID 0或1，但沒有光碟機。



2011年7月


7月20日蘋果公司發表小改款的Mac mini，仍分桌上版及伺服器版，兩種版本均不再內建光碟機，CPU改用Intel Core i5或i7，並新增Thunderbolt連接埠，同时兼容Mini DisplayPort接口的设备（均可直接插入Thunderbolt接口直接使用）。显示适配卡分为CPU内建的Intel HD Graphics 3000（与主内存共用288Mb 显存）和AMD Radeon HD6630M显示适配卡（搭载256Mb GDDR5显存）。硬盘均标配500GB SATA 5400rpm，可选750GB SATA 7200 RPM或者256GB SSD。作業系統同時改為Mac OS X v10.7 Lion，并配备了蓝牙4.0传输模块。由于取消了内建的光驱，因此不再随机附带Mac OS X Lion的恢复光盘，而改用内建于Mac OS Lion系统中的恢复工具以及Recovery HD来进行系统恢复和修复。

在十月的特別發佈會中，Mac mini連同iMac一同更新。新款Mac mini外形與2011年版沒有什麽改動，主要是規格上的更新，例如採用Intel的Ivy Bridge處理器，和標配4GB (兩條 2GB) 1600MHz DDR3 記憶體。顯示卡一律採用CPU内建的Intel HD Graphics 4000，硬碟則標準配置為1TB SATA 5400rpm，部分型號可選1TB Fusion Drive或256GB SSD。預載的作業系統為OS X Mountain Lion。另外設有4個USB 3.0接口，1個FireWire 800接口和1個Thunderbolt接口。



2014年10月


此代Mac mini採用Intel的Haswell處理器，硬碟採PCIe介面，支援藍牙4.0、802.11ac Wi-Fi網路，並具備兩個Thunderbolt 2、一個HDMI及四個USB 3.0連接埠，內建SDXC讀卡機。價格亦下調兩成，從HK$4688下調至HK$3788。

開啟外殼和修改


有些第一代 mac mini 的擁有者使用補土刀撬具來開啟電腦的外殼，因此可以藉由拆開外殼來安裝較便宜的其他廠商記憶體來升級 [44]。蘋果電腦也把補土刀送給他們的經銷商。官方的 Mac mini 維修手冊詳細的說明了這個程序。網路上也有熱心使用者提供拆解步驟的圖片[45]。除了使用補土刀外，有些人利用幾支免洗筷[46]來開啟。


開啟外殼並不會使得 Mac mini 的保固失效，然而，打開外殼時若造成任何損壞並不為保固所涵蓋。


其他的修改包含對處理器的超頻[47]、更換更快的CPU，以及在機器上安裝Linux等[48]。


有些猜測說某些內部的元件暗示本來是計畫成為內建 iPod 的 dock [49]。他們發現光碟機的豎板也包含有 FireWire 匯流排。在這之後的另外一個說法是本來是用來作為額外的 FireWire 埠，但是在這個設計中被移除掉了。


2010年出品的第二代Mac mini（Unibody）在底部有個圓形底座，只要轉開該底座即可更換記憶體。不過蘋果於2014年的新Mac mini換成不可轉開的底座。

就像 iPod 一樣，有很多的協力廠商推出mini的周邊商品。MiniMate可以增加最大到400GB額外硬碟空間和3個額外USB和FireWire埠[50]。其他包含針對Mac mini形狀而設計的支架或燈光。
